Tools we love – Invideo Video Platform Review

I love wisdom, whether it’s diving deep with an author in a great book, or simply reading a short quote in the morning that I can reflect on throughout the day.

If you follow Stoic by design on social media you may have noticed some of the videos we produce, packed with bite-sized nuggets of wisdom and inspiration.

Well, a few days ago, Sanket Shah, the CEO of Invideo (the editing platform we use) reached out to us to ask if we could share our experience using their service and provide a few tips on how entrepreneurs can produce more videos.

I thought this was a great idea, especially as Invideo’s team has been nothing short of awesome since we started using them to produce our videos.

But first, before we start I need to share a caveat – We have only been using Invideo for a few months now, but it has largely replaced a lot of the other tools we used in the past to produce videos… So I think a lot of other entrepreneurs will find value with this review and I hope will find inspiration to create more video for their businesses.

In a nutshell, Invideo.io is an online video platform designed to help you make short 3-10 minute videos without the hassle associated with typical video editing software.

If you have ever tried to create a video in Final Cut Pro or any other desktop video editing software, you’ll know that these projects rarely take minutes to complete…

When I first started making videos, it took a while to get used to how Imovies and Final Cut Pro worked. Then once I made a few video projects I quickly realised I needed a faster machine, and a lot more hard drive space as some of my small videos had project files totalling 10-15 GB!

In contrast, what’s great about Invideo is that everything is in the cloud, so you don’t need a powerful computer and you can create as many projects as you want without needing to upgrade to a bigger hard drive! This means you can focus on your content and message, and their system handles the rest.

Compared to typical video editing software, using Invideo is quite literally kids play…

You can make lots of different types of videos including short videos for facebook and instagram, product videos for ecommerce, explainer videos, video quotes, news videos, compilation videos, meme videos and video reviews.

There are 3 ways to create a video with Invideo right now:

-You can make a semi-automatic video from a url or text
-You can create a video using a pre-built template
-Lastly, you can create a video from scratch

1/ Creating videos from a url

Let’s start with the first method, which is one of my favourites. You can provide the url of an article you wrote, and they then automatically extract all the images, and attempt to summarise the article in bite sized format.

Then, it creates an explainer video using the summarised version of your text, using a relevant image or video from their stock library.

Then you can use their automatic text to speech feature to narrate your video… It’s genius, and within 5-10 minutes you can create something really nice which would have normally taken hours to make.

2/ Creating videos using a pre-made template

Invideo have a growing collection of different video templates in the most popular video sizes that you can use to get started. Simply add your text and media and you’re ready to publish your video.

3/ Creating videos from scratch

Lastly, you can create videos from scratch, scene by scene using a large collection of free stock photos and videos, as well as a really high quality collection of premium stock videos if you upgrade to their enterprise plan.

What I really like is how easy it is to put something together with minimal assets, placing your media, text and using the included stock libraries. It’s surprising how great the results look with seemingly minimal effort.

Then you can add fancy video transitions, overlay effects such as smoke or light streaks, add stickers, icons and shapes.

Lastly, you can pick music from the comprehensive stock music library to make your video look and sound professional.

By now, you’re probably thinking about how this compares to other online video editors…

For me, what makes Invideo stand out are these key areas:

-The Invideo team is super responsive and their front line support actually knows what they are talking about! I’ve contacted their support 3 or 4 times and within minutes was talking to someone that helped me with my query or the chat was quickly escalated to their development team who jumped on the chat.

-During the last 3 months of using Invideo, they have been cranking out bug fixes, new features and community requests from their facebook page at a rapid pace. Be sure to check their facebook community to see for yourself!

Compared to some of the other online video editors:

-All paid plans get 1080p resolution video, so your facebook and instagram videos are never fuzzy
-The url to video feature is really good, and much better than the competition in my opinion.
-This appears to be the only online video editor which combines url to video with a fully featured video editor
-You can save a lot of time using the automated text to speech feature to narrate your video, plus voices actually sound human
-All plans get access to the huge free video, image and audio stock assets which makes it super easy to create video, even if you haven’t filmed anything

Lastly, high quality royalty free video footage is normally quite expensive. Shutterstock for example charges £50 per video clip, which can make video production insanely expensive. If you want to create lots of videos, Invideo’s Enterprise plan is a no brainer. It comes with 50 premium stock video downloads a month, unlimited access to their premium stock photos and lets you create longer videos.

As Abraham Lincoln once said, Give me six hours to chop down a tree and I will spend the first four sharpening the axe. For me using a platform like Invideo is a great leverage multiplier, that can help any entrepreneur promote their message in less time so they can spend more time on their mission.
